Hi, my experience with tomatoes is that they require a lot of room for both roots and the plant itself. I think that each plant should have its own 5 gal pail for good results. That way, they could be moved outside when the weather is good and the plants are producing a lot of fruit. I made couple 5 gal. bubbler pots several years ago while growing some cayanne peppers inside, and the results were good. I found that you have to monitor the nutrient level pretty closely in the bubbler type systems as it stops working when the nutrient level goes down too far. Anyway, that's my 2 cents worth. i'm curious. Did you try your to grow orchids in that system? Has it worked?
