Ok let me start off by saying I am new to hydrangas, last year I bought what was labled as a nikko blue from my local Rona. I planted it and it thrived and bloomed beautifully. I did not put much effort into winter protecting it this winter and it died back pretty good. I was doing some reasearch, hoping that I mighjt see blooms this year then I realized. when i purchased it last spring it was in a 1 or 2 gallon container but was only 6 inches tall with no blooms, just new growth. I am wondering is this a nikko blue or has it been mislabled, it seems to me it may have been pruned right back some time before I got it, and that it bloomed on new wood??? any ideas, opinions?

Thx
