Compact Hydrangea?

I'd like to place a hydrangea (or two!) along my sidewalk. It has dappled shade and will only get about an hour or two of direct sunlight. Would an Annabelle stay more compact in these conditions. I'd prefer it stay less than 24" tall. I also have some Forever & Ever Peppermints that I could move that I think I have planted in too much sun. I'm not concerned about the Winter appearance.

Go with the Forever & Ever White Out or Together. They both only get at maturity 2' x 2'. Take a look on their website.

You could also try H.m. 'Pia', or H.s. 'Akishino-Temari'- which both stay really small. The literature says both get to about 3', but I've had my Akishino for years and it's definitely not that tall. More like 2'. For a lacecap, there are some gorgeous dwarf introductions from Korea- check out 'Hallasan', if you can find it.

I can assure you that in the conditions you describe, Annabelle would probably get a good 4 ft tall--at least mine would.
