Hey guys I noticed this morning in my backyard that I am over-run with catapillars! I mean they are litterally everywhere on the ground. Is this a common thing I haven't ever noticed? I know the damage they can do to a vegetable garden and haven't seen damage to my plants yet but wondering if I need to spray or something before they find them. I have gardenias,azelias, roses,jasmine,and hibiscus in the area. Thanks for any suggestions

If they're not damaging anything, not to worry.

Many mature caterpillars are out and moving around to find some place to spend the winter, they are done eating and will not cause any more damage. Most will end up as food for some predator although some may safely make it to the pupating stage, and even then they can be food for many birds over the winter. So there is no real reason to spray something to kill most of these caterpillars, now.
