Most likely you have the "corn earworm", the larva of a moth that lays its eggs on many different plants so it is variously known as the tomato fruitworm, or pepper fruitworm among many others.
Control must be done before the adult moth lays its eggs on the plant and the single best way to do that is with floating row overs. Sprays, even BTK, probably will not be very effective since the larva would consume only a very little, if any, as the bored into the fruit. Along with the floating row covers would be encouraging predators of the moths to hang around.

These wee thingys can take many guises and may not look exactly like what you have. If you've not taken one or more to your local office of your state universities USDA Cooperative Extension Service, do so.

It is infact the cornworm. they ate my jalipenos enmass! they are larve from diamondback moths and they eat my corn too! so i kill them with my deadly mixture (Permetherin and D.E) just sprinkle drectly on the plant and youll have no more trouble.If you are faint about using perithioids then use soap and water the catapillars hate the taste and somtyimes leave the plant alone
