And now I ask the same question as Henrik - what mechanism have you used to fasten the gate shut? The first simple little fastener that I used on our gate used to come undone whenever there was a moderate wind. The next one - a sliding bolt - has been a bit better, but it can only be opened or shut from the one side & I doubt it'll resist the next gale. The gates themselves are a lot flimsier than yours, so I may end up replacing them with something more like yours.

Like I wrote in my gate-thread, my doors are now finished! The lock as it is right now is just a piece of rope ;) I ahve been unable to find a good locking mechanism. All handles made for house-doors are too big and expensive.

And since the japanese are such a practical people, I doubt they would put a sliding bolt that could only be opened from one direction ;)

As I recall in the series Shogun, the gate at blackthornes garden was only locked with a piece of string... Hmmmm

any ideas?
