Miracle grow on it's own will not work as hydroponic nutrients. The form of nitrogen in MG requires soil microbes to convert it into plant usable form. At the very least you would need to add calcium nitrate to it for it to work. Better choice would be to find some nutrient labled specifically for hydroponics. If you want to keep it very simple, you could choose something like General Hydroponics Flora Magic, it is a general purpose hydroponic nutrient mix that comes in dry form that you mix with water. There are many other choices that can be talored to different types of plants or that you switch from one type to another at different growth stages. Check the phone book or do a local internet search to find a hydroponic retailer in the area. Seeing the mind boggeling wide range of selection on the shelf in a shop will give you a whole new set of questions to ask.
