What now?

We have had a strange winter here in southwestern Wisconsin. We had extreme cold for a few weeks in December, accompanied by a nice snow cover. Now for the past two and a half weeks, the weather has been hovering just above freezing and things are thawing. I covered my iris beds after the ground froze this fall because last year I didn't and we had lots of sub-zero temps with no snow cover for protection and I had to replace over half of my irises in one particular bed.

My question now is...since it is remaining warm (for the season) and things are all thawing, do I uncover those irises until things freeze again or do I just let them be? We covered with burlap and then straw. I don't think I can handle (psychologically or financially!)another loss like last year's! Thankfully I purchased the insurance from Cooley's with my order last year, so those will be replaced if lost.

Thanks!

LD
