Did you see this in person and is it that copper-orange color? Hello iris_gal,
I have only seen this is magazines and it's supposed to be red and white. I was hoping someone on here would have it so I could get it this spring. thanks

The photo looks like a 6 petaled Japanese iris. But the rust/orng color is what you see in Louisiana iris.
Maybe there's been a successful cross with Louisianas? I suspect however, the picture is very inaccurate in color.

is there any real true red iris??? .. or is this the type of thing we could argue about for a long time ....

has OP visited any actual iris seller websites ... the ones that sort by color????

The iris plant does not have a red gene. I have read that hybridizers are attempting to splice in a red gene from another plant. I have confidence that eventually they will create a true red iris. Until then I am overwhelmed with all the other colors and color combinations that they have created in my favorite flower. Hooray for hybridizers!

It looks a lot like this Japanese Iris "Sensation" but obviously not the same color.
