Very little is truly resistant to Armillaria. Did you have the juniper get taken by this? Possibly a low-growing yew could be planted in the same area - yew and turfgrass are two that are mentioned as having some kind of ability to fend it off.

If they really do.

I'd dig the infested soil out and replace with fresh. Sticking something in the middle of an actively pathogenic patch of Armillaria seems like really asking for it.

Thanks for the input bboy. The whole slope is infested, so really can't replace soil, quite unfortunately. :-(

Armillaria can't live in soil that dries out, maybe you can clear the area and let it bake during the summer.
