Not to hijack this thread but Murase-san's stonework is extraordinary. Not forced. Subtle. His works are everywhere in the Seattle and Portland area.

It is sad that his retreat at Gray's Harbor was published so soon after his unexpected death. I was living in Vancouver, WA. at the time of his Esther Short project and was able to see his detail in the build process. A true master.

We, in Portland had the honor and pleasure of having a memorial display some of Mr. Murase's work at PDX city hall during the October's First Thursday (Art Night). Landscape architechs of the City of Portland displayed some of their projects. There was a special area showing Mr. Murase's work. Nacchodaddy's assessment of Mr. Murase's rings true for me. Murase's skilled use of rock is amazing.
