Do you know what kind of irises they are? Are they tall bearded irises? If so, you should be able to get them to bloom easily. They don't need fertilizer, and can even rot if they are given too much. They need sun and good drainage. The rhizomes should be planted with the tops exposed with no dirt covering the top. If the rhizomes are crowded, they should be divided and planted about a foot apart. That's pretty much all it takes.
Good luck with your new flowers.

I have no idea if they are bearded or not but since she did have some deep purple ones that were, there is a good chance these are as well. I know she said some are peach and some yellow...the others she doesn't remember.
The ones from the old home site-I have no idea (I did have to dig about 6 inches to get to the rhizome though).
The ones from my grand mothers are bearded.

That's good- they are probably all tall bearded irises if the rhizomes look the same. They are tough. There are planting directions on the FAQ page here if you need more direction. I have overfertilized in the past and rotted the rhizomes, and I have also buried them too deeply and rotted them.

I don't know about the ones you had to dig up. Do the leaves look the same? How about the rhizome?

You may not get any flowers this year, since they should not be moved in the spring. They will be well set up to bloom for you next spring, though. Just be sure they get plenty of sun and they don't get too wet.
