Aren't they grafted? The ones I have seen are.

I've seen them at Calloways nursery locally and on ebay.
Should do well in NY but they grow really slowly.

I have a 50 year old Shishigashira on my property and recently have taken and interest in them my other one is 30 years old. my yard is filled with different types of grafted japanese maples but the two shishigashira maples i have appear to not by grafted also i have never seen the leaves turn any color but the same amazing brillant green. i have many grafted emerald lace that appear to be grafted the trunks are about 8 inches diameter on the largest and they have beautiful twisted trunks and branches. i am interested in harvesting seeds from the shishigashira and growing them if you would be interested in buying some once i get them going i could keep you informed about their grow if you are still interested once i have them going more than an inch tall
