Island Construction

20 years ago

What are the important points about island construction? (I hope we can leave the foolish nonsense about "turtle islands" out of the discussion this time.)

    Not sure I understand the question. Would you care to elaborate or to state some positive views of your own to get the ball rolling.

    KnR;

    Not enough information to start. What do you want it to do??? That's a good thing to know before you build something.

    Regardless, you will need a good source of cheap rocks. Check with your buddy pjk on that one.

    Look at the Yahoo links at the bottom of the page KNR...

    There's no escaping...

    OK, here's what we have so far:

    nachodaddy says we should look for cheap rocks. I don't know about that.

    ScottReil says we should acquire heavy construction equipment. Sounds like good advice. What kind of equipment?

    What else?

    KnR:

    A hole in the ground so you can mound up the cheap rocks.

    Oh, you need a shovel to dig the hole first.

    Oh, you might need some water!

    Andrea;

    Let's not get ahead of KnR. He might want a "dry pond"

    Use the soil from digging the hole to create a berm around one side of the pond, always a good place for a waterfall

    I think you have that wrong Lee, someone once asked the guy where he came from, here you have the answer: ma. Besides that, another facet of his character was asking about islands so we must assume he already has the pond so what you do is dig a hole and use the soil from that hole to make an island in the pond and then you make the hole where the soil came from into a pond you then dig a hole and use the soil from that hole to make an island in the pond and then you make the hole where the soil came from into a pond you then dig a hole and use the soil from that hole to make an island in the pond and then you make the hole where the soil came from into a pond you then dig a hole and use the soil from that hole to make an island in the pond and then you make the hole where the soil came from into a pond you then dig a hole and use the soil from that hole to make an island in the pond. With any luck by that time you will have one pond with an island in it for each of you. Please let us know how it goes and goes and goes.

    Sorry about the typo Lee. Anyways, I'm trying to mend my ways and now I'm trying to be nice and helpful rather than arrogant and vengvle

    Of course when digging the pond do not excavate where the island goes

    Do you think it's appropriate to falsely use someone's name like that? I don't.

    Hi
    soil selection, good foundation is key. growing plant in pot, garden need to have well drain soil. But bootom of island should have heavy clay soil so that soil is not washed away. Once Island lost foundation soil, you will have problem latter................mike
