I do not see any roots. How long after being cut were the pictures taken. Was any rooting hormones used? I used to clip hot pepper plants, dip the cut end right down into the hormone powder, and then let them sit in the dark several days in water followed by several days under florescent lights until there were good roots. I never tried tomatos. good luck

looks like he probably made a 2 vertical cuts up the stem to maybe increase the surface area exposed to the water.

the plant looks healthy, my tomatoes usually root in 3 to 5 days with my bubble cloner. ive had roots in 2 days, but usually 3 to 5 only using water at a temp of 78F with lots of oxygen being pumped in with a bubblewand. the exploding bubbles on the surface of the water bath the stems.
