Well, you are partially right. The pox spots will fade away as the water warms in the summer....but they will come back when the water cools. He will never grow out of it though. The condition is permanent. They won't hurt the fish. They are somewhat contagious in crowded conditions, but not so much in large roomy ponds.

sorry but i feel what you have been told is incorrect. koi pox or carp pox is a treatable disease. what you need to do is slowly raise the water temperature to 80 degrees. once you hit 80 degrees maintain that temperature for 3 or 4 days then slowly lower it back to normal levels. the pox will disappear. if that means moving the fish into a quarantine tank then so be it. it is contagious though.

sorry....but the OP was advised correctly. I am a certified koi health advisor. I know about carp pox. True...raising the temps up will make it disappear....but it will not cure it. When the temps go back down in the fall, the pox will return.

no...not testy at all.....just annoyed when someone jumps in and provides incorrect health information. Where did you hear that koi pox is curable? Just make that up yourself?
