Organic nutrients will encourage growth of biota that will plug up your liquid passages.

Depending on what type of system you are running, bioslime may or may not be an issue. If you have small drippers or small tubing/piping, then it probably will cause you problems. If you have pretty wide open flows or DWC, then likely a non-issue. People doing Aquaponics often actually depend on the bioslime to help seal connections without sealant. Then again in AP most people use larger dia tubing so that the coating won't block the passages.
