I think you would have to have a soil test to determine that.

But you are right about beardeds doing better in alkinlity rather than acidic.

I'l probably just stick it into the ground and see what happens. They're such tough plants that they usually do just fine. That is a pretty little iris, Harryshoe. Have your siberians bloomed yet?

I seriously doubt the very large iris farms in the PNW offer alklaine soil for their acres of iris! Most plants will tolerate quite a range of soil pH and bearded iris are no exception - as long as your soil is not overly acidic (below 6.0), you have nothing to worry about. PNW soils are naturally around 6.0-6.3 and bearded iris do just fine without any liming.

I use Azomite! It is all natural and it is amazing. google it and see I don't us anything else and my Iris and WELL as everything in my garden is Just going crazy blooming. I love this stuff.

Thanks. I'll just leave the soil alone and see what this plant can do here. I threw a little compost in the planting hole and expect this iris to do OK in my raised bed of roses and mixed perennials.

I thought this plant was quite robust and just couldn't resist. It thanked me by opening two buds overnight.
