Overwintering plan sounds ok?

Hi,

I'm new to hydrangeas, and have read several of the long threads but want some input to see if this sounds ok.

Limelights - planted this spring & fall, no protection needed.

Nikko in ground, southern exposure - Build a wire cage, tie canes upright, wrap canes in burlap, stuff with leaves / wood chips and then maybe a final burlap wrap on the whole cage? We tend to have some weather in the dead of winter that really warms up and then freezes again, is this likely to be a big problem or should my protection keep it cold enough even in a southern exposure?

New F &E in a pot - overwinter wrapped in burlap in garage?

Thanks in advance,

ps - my first frost date is around Oct 20th- sounds like I should wrap the Nikko sometime after the first frost, but before the temps start hitting the low 20's at night, right?
