Haven't heard of that one. Do you think it turns to mustard gas - lol. I can just see the little varmints wearing gas masks - lol

After the mustard treatment, the voles go probably a little distance only and continue. I buy Dcon mouse poison pellets at HD, put those deep into the holes and cover the holes to see if they stay active and had not to use any this year yet. No other animals and neighbors are complaining.

I've never heard of the dry mustard either, but I also use Dcon pellets. Just pour them down the holes and hope the varmits enjoy their last meal. I should own stock in the Dcon company...however I have noticed a decrease in the destruction. And yes, I have a cat that catches the creatures but that is not nearly good enough to make a dent in the vole population. I am not worried about the cat and the Dcon because if the vole eats enough of it they won't be running around for the cat to catch.

There is a product called Tomcat,which is green,and it seems to work well. I mean by green,it is green in color. Phil

Just had to go to HD to fix a faucet, go always thru their garden section. Yes, they have Tomcat and Dcon waiting for us.

Someone at our local nursery said in order for Tomcat to be effective, it must not have a smidge of human scent on it. Meaning, you had to use gloves that you have never used before, grab them with tongs that had not touched bare skin, and only then would the moles eat the bait.

This sounds too weird to be true, and besides, if it were, surely one of you would have mentioned it by now.

I never used Tomcat, but in respect to Dcon, within the Dcon box are several envelopes which contain the poison pellets. I cut off a corner of an envelope and pour a few pellets into each hole. In case a pellet misses a hole, I use any piece of bark or stick lying around to move pellets into a hole, never touched anything with my hands.
