Pics from another newbie

The only bearded iris that I had until last year was Beverly Sills. I've enjoyed that one so much that last year I decided to go wild ordering iris. They are just now starting to bloom so here are my first pictures. I have a lot of pink ones that I planted for my daughter that was born last year. More pictures soon...

Ovation

Rosalie Figg

Jennifer Rebecca - I'm not wild about this one. It doesn't look as appealing in person as it does in catalogs. Maybe it will look better in future years.

Immortality

Sugar Blues

Beverly Sills - these two pics were taken during different times of the day with different amounts of light. It's amazing how the color looks so different in the two.

Beautiful!! Good job on the pictures.

Yes, color and light...I didn't understand what an impact light has on color until I started choosing paint colors for my home.

Where did you order from? I did the same as you last year, and it's exciting to see them opening up now. I was thrilled with me $2 irises (now $2.20) from BlueJ.

Susan,

I ordered from several companies. They were from Schreiners Iris Gardens (best quality IMHO), Suttons Iris Gardens , and Nicholls Gardens. Ovation was only available from Argyle Acres so that is where I ordered it from. Since all of the iris seem to be doing quite well for me, I guess I would recommend ordering from any of these companies.

I think Immortality has got to be the perfect iris -- for me, anyway. It's robust, sweet-scented, it does rebloom for me, and it's just plain gorgeous. You see it for sale everywhere, so I suppose it'll be overexposed, but it's just an amazing plant.
