Masai is a Syngenta product. http://www.rogersadvantage.com/products/bean.asp Fedco in Maine has them but no shipping to Canada. Stokes has one of the best selections of new introductions available but not Masai. Nor does Vesey. You might use the contact us on the Syngenta website to find a Canadian source.

You might try to trade for it. I did a search of fellow gardenweb members listing the Masai beans for trade and they are Angelady & Douglasls. You might also try postings a thread for trading for it in the "Exchanges" section of this Legumes forum.

The Vermont Bean Seed Company has them listed, I don't know if they send to Canada though.

Unfortunately Vermont will not ship to Canada, it says here,
PUERTO RICO, CANADA and other foreign countries - No shipments of any kind.

But good luck with the trades idea. I'm told that Canadian mail will accept beans from the US, so a US sender can declare the trade as garden seeds on the form. But US mail will not accept a package declared as garden seeds from Canada. In that case maybe the Canadian side can send a SASE, or other item of same value declared as "gift".

This is a public forum which may be read by persons working in a Customs branch who would know more about this. I certainly would not encourage anyone to break the law.

Masai is a patented (PVP) cultivar, so take that into account when publicly offering to sell or trade seeds.

Farmerdilla, is it prohibited to trade patented seeds? How about saving your own seed of patented cultivars, is even that prohibited? It's understandable that the owner would not want the product resold for profit.

Maybe OP would be better off to choose a different variety!

It is sort of like copying a book or copying a CD. It is done a lot, but it is prosecuted when it become obvious. With PVP it is ok to save seeds for ones own use. Trading becomes more tricky, because then you are getting something in return. My advice is not to advertise on a public forum if you contemplate trading. Since beans are not conducive to commercial hybridization most of the introductions in the past 10 years or so are PVP.

Sounds like another good reason to stick with heirlooms.

The first one is a wholesale company and only sells by the pound, but Fedco and Pinetree are retailers and sell Masai.
