mystery hydrangea

I have a misidentified hydrangea and need help with an ID. This is one tough plant, being in the (until now) "free range" back yard, growing too close to the fence, having been (literally) hacked to the ground when it got in the way of a soccer goal. It blooms HUGE white , fading to pink, blooms mid-to late August here, on new wood (see soccer goal) Even after its brush with oblivion, it send very erect shoots 6-8 feet.

It was bought a Lowes by a previous owner of the house and marked "hydrangea paniculata tardiva" "Pink Beauty" I cannot find the existence of such a plant.

Its leaves are larger than my other tardiva, and oval in shape, about 5" x2.5".

Of course, I do not have a photo--not thinking ahead--but this is one miracle shrub. I have to move it away from the fence, and in case of a problem, would like to replace it if necessary.

Can anyone help me out with possibilities?

And, FYI--no ball toting teenagers are allowed in my new back garden!
