Anyone ever try growing Lupini ?

I just wondered if anyone ever tried growing the so-called "Lupini Bean," i.e. white lupine, Lupinus alba or Lupinus albus ??? The so-called "sweet" varieites, which have relatively low levels of bitter alkaloids, are cultivated in Mediterranean countries for the large, white seed (sort of looks like an overgrown lentil).

I just wondered if anyone has every tried growing these?

They're a semi-hardy bienniel, but I suspect they would grow here in Michigan with the standard treatment I give to most such things, which is sowing in March -- gives the young plant enough cold to think it's been vernalized.
