Question about seeds..

Thanks in advance for the help...

On the left are seeds from a DB Iris, with unnamed parents. It could be a self pollinated DB, or pollinated with the TB's it grows beside. (a neighbor gave me the seed pod) It was mature, brown, and opened on it's own. So I know the seeds are healthy and mature.

On the right, are seeds taken from a TB seed pod that my darling toddler broke off before it was ready. It was still green and the seeds were white. I put them in a seed starting mix for 3 weeks, only to discover they were browning, and rotting from what I could tell. So in effort to rescue them, I dug them up, and stuck them in the fridge, keeping them moist. After a day of that, I checked on them, and a few were squishy. So I tossed those, and after advice from Mike I believe it was, I let the rest of them dry out.

So my question is.. do they look healthy? Should I toss them and try again next year? Also, can anyone find a GOOD link that describes what to do to get Iris to grow from seeds? OR tell me what you did to get Iris from seeds? I am having a hard time getting non-conflicting answers.. ANy help is appreciated, and welcome!! Thanks!!
