how much peas to plant?

I bought, and planted, a package of sugar sprint peas. It was a 3/4 ounce package and I planted in about a 5' x 2' plot. Should be plenty of room. But, I'm wondering how much to expect out of this? I don't eat a lot of peas but I do snack on fresh ones and would like to freeze some for stir fries throughout the year.

Also, right now I don't have any support for them. Is support a necessity or just a convenience item?
