I didn't know there were so many colors. Does it refer to the color of the flower, pod, foliage or dried bean? Cos I did a google search and found references to all of the above.

Apparently the flower and the pod. Like I said though, I haven't come across it yet either. By the way....got my bamboo at a local Trees and Trends on clearance (18 poles) for $12.99. Picked up the hemp twine at Wal-Mart for $5.00. So less than $25.00 after tax to put this all together. Will be interesting I am sure! LOL

Are they safe to eat? I've heard they are poisonous.

I've got a feeling the "blue" are just the purple being called blue.

The immature flat bean pods are edible. The mature bean seeds are poisonous if not processed properly. They must be boiled and drained twice to remove the toxins.
