Is there a Formula for Watering Tomato Plants?

This is probably a stupid question, but I thought i'd ask anyways. Has anyone formulated the Volume in which Tomatoes plants absorb/consume water? Like for Instance if a Tomato plant is 5 Inches tall it would consume so much water as opposed to a 15 inch plant absorbs that much more water... Just curious if growing tomatoes involved any Math. Thanks

I would seriously doubt that you could do it by a formula. There are too many variables - pot size, type of soil, amount of light, temperatures, etc.

If you really want to do some math, you can always calculate fertilizer amounts. ;)

Spoiler - this is not an entirely serious response. I did find an academic article about 'Water relations and growth of tomato fruit pericarp tissue. ...'

I think that with another degree or two I might be able to understand the article. vbg. etc.
