Generally, when you pinch/cut/prune a long running vine then
it will grow more lateral. They do this with gourds and squash
to keep the vines in check and produce more female flowers.
It could be done similarly with any vine.

So I'm correct that in "theory" if one pinches back the main vine on say some Bluelake Pole beans they would send out more laterals and potentially more blooms and beans?

Oh okay.. The poles I cut for trellises range from about 6.5-8.5ft tall and I was thinking I might should nip the tip to keep them from over climbing. (but since you say that's not an issue) I may not have to nip the tips at all.

I wouldn't prune the tips. Just let them flop back over the top of the support and start down the other way or just wave around at the top of the trellis or stakes. And don't make the mistake of setting up a support that's too tall for you to easily reach the top of. (People do that for indeterminate tomatoes, too.) You probably need to avoid having to set up ladders to harvest vegetables!

Oh no, I wouldn't climb a ladder to harvest. I'd be more apt to use a extension gripper to snag them down. Yeah I know that about tomatoes. Neighbor a few years ago did that and he ended up getting his tomatoes via drywall stilts..

TM, I've heard of bolting a pair of sneakers to the bottoms of two 5 gallon buckets, but I wouldn't recommend it.
