It is my first time planting lilies after finding some tiger lilies at the local store (girlfriend's favorite flower). The bulbs were a little mature in the bag, they had roots, a section with little spikes on it, and a column of scales about two inches high.

I planted it so that the area where the section with little spikes meets the scales (2 inches of scales are sticking out). These have turned from white to a dark purple.

I am not sure if I have planted these correctly, or if these are healthy, but I've been hard pressed to find any useful info on google. Any help would be appreciated.
