Last 'indian' standing

Now that bearded bloom season is over (all too quickly) what was the last one to bloom for you?

I gotta give the honor to VILANELLE. Not my favorite form (too frilly), but it just won't stop blooming...actually a couple more buds on it still! Everything else is gone. Any any iris that extends the season like this has a home with me forever!

DARK PASSION is the last bloom in my garden. It's a lovely little black iris, and I expected the recent heat to fry it, butit's holding up.

Laetitia, that's a great recommendation for Vilanelle!

My last spring bloom was Lilla(Spoon 2000). It first bloomed 06/02 and was the last to have a bloom. I think it bloomed late because it bloomed its heart out last October and may have needed time to get a rhizome to bloom size. It is listed as a EM bloomer which around here is early April. I have several hundred Shah Jehan and they were finishing up in early June. What I think is Sambucina finished up very late May.

My last bearded bloom was Spartan, and it finished about a week ago. My first ensata opened today though, and good thing too- it'll be awfully hard to wait until next spring to see the others again!

I don't have any experience with growing iris in other than zone 7 but I believe that iris rebloom has progressed to the point that you could probably have iris in bloom from spring bloom until hard freeze. It would take some reseach and some trial and error but I believe it is possible. Lee Mincy

I had Pinball Wizard bloom for weeks after everything else was done. This is its first year here, so don't know if it will "settle in" with the rest or not.

My last one started blooming last Friday, the 16th and is still blooming now. I do have a few others on their last flower or two (how sad) but this one still has a few blooms to show me. It's PURPLE PEOPLE EATER (A&D Cadd, 2003) and I would classify it as a VL for sure!

SUGAR BLUES...but to be fair, I was gloating over all the seed pods when I noticed new bloom stalks... Ergo, I think it was more rebloom than bloom...

Monsigneur was blooming away on Long Island this past Sunday. I had no idea it was such a late bloomer. Everything else was long gone.

Pinball Wizard and Purple People Eater were late here too. Does anyone have "Fashionably Late"? I was wondering about it.

Wabash was last for me, faded away with our most recent rains a few days ago.

FROSTING bloomed for the first time and in June!!!
Tho the standards look a shade darker in the photo, they're not. And I don't remember the beard showing this dark.
    Oh the joy of photography.

Oh my, nine days ago I posted my last iris standing as Purple People Eater. And it was the last one to bloom but the last one BLOOMING is Smokin'. I am amazed at how long this one has been blooming. I would say two weeks.
