Zebra Gardens Iris anyone?

Has an experienced iris gardener here grown any of the Zebra Gardens (broken colored) irises, hybridized by the Kaspereks? I have about 8 varieties of them, but nothing else to compare them to, as they are some of the only ones I have (except for a Caesar's Brother iris and one other unknown yellow). How would you rate them and why? Thanks. Phyl

I do not grow ones directly from Zebra Gardens but do have some of their introductions in my garden. The ones I grow are healthy, well-proportioned and garner attention from many a passerby.

    Anyone else?

I am growing some of the Kaspereks iris. I've got Toucan Tango, Gazellegant, Millennium Falcon, Hotdogs& Mustard, and am planning on buying others. The iris I ordered from them last fall bloomed this year, the rhizomes were big and healthy. They sent a couple bonus iris, have been very friendly in emails, and have a good policy if you lose any you buy from them in the first year or so.

I grow quite a few of Brad and Katies Irises, received directly from them. In my NY garden they are growing beautifully. They receive lots of attention due to the broken colors. I really enjoy them. If I could remember how to post photos I would put them in the gallery as they are beautiful. I have about 100 to 150 tall bearded blooming now.

Buying irises online from Zebra Gardens is a joy. The Kaspareks are very friendly, give bonus irises and the rhizomes are plump and happy. This is their website

I do not know them personally, so if this sounds like an advertisement....well, they deserve it! I had heard broken color iris are not vigorous. All of mine except Bewilderbeast have been very sturdy. My Bewilderbeast gives me beautiful flowers but the leaves struggle. I will move it in case it is where I planted it. Lacy Lynx is a gorgeous pink and very very prolific!
    Here are some of my photos;

    Lacy Lynx

    Gazellegant

    Congo Bongo

    Pythonz Parasol

    Nigerian Raspberry

    Tanzanian Tangerine

In a presentation at AIS national, Brad K. said he is selling on e-bay as well. I have a mixed bed of broken color and space-agers (for the solid color contrast). Of all of the Kasparek's intros, I've only lost Chocolate Mousse. I had purchased it at a regional silent action here in the midwest, not from Zebra directly.

Thanks everyone. I just wondered about them, as somewhere someone last year said something on one of these forums about them not being very good iris, and I felt that maybe I had not been wise about what I had purchased as my first irises. The ones I have are beautiful, though I lost the tags and some of them died the first winter. Merlie, your photos are Ze-Best Zebras my irises have ever seen! LOL Phyl

'Bewilderbeest' is one of my all time BC favorites. It is very sturdy and grows well. 'Tanzanian Tangerine', (although it is plicata not BC), is also sturdy and very prolific besides. You will get plenty of divisions from this one. 'Saharan Sun', Tiger Honey', and 'Spiced Tiger' are also very nice. (Spiced Tiger is pollen sterile but can be a pod parent.) I have several other BC varieties in my Iris beds and they all do well. I don't remember the other names offhand. Brad is very good about selecting for sturdy bloom spikes with plenty of buds for his introductions.

    Thanks for the photos Merlie!
I received a suprise order last year with several of their irises and 2 can up different than the label. Low and behold there it is in your photos....Pythonz Parosol! Mistery solved, thanks!
