Poor planning??

I am in Indiana, and just built a trellis this year. I planned to plant peas on the trellis, which I did, then replace them with runner beans later on. But I think I made a mistake on my planning.

The peas have 9 weeks from when they were planted to when the beans have to replace them. The packet says they can start to be picked at 68 days.

Will it matter if I put off planting the beans for a few weeks, or maybe plant them among the peas that will die soon after that anyway? I'm really short on space, and don't want to sacrifice production.
