Silk Road - your experience?

I keep hearing good things about Silk Road and am thinking about giving it a try. Was hoping I could get some feedback first from some folks here who have grown it. Also, any recommendations on where to purchase it online for best quality of plant?

I'm in 4b MN. It's a gorgeous lily. Mine gets to around 6+ ft. It always draws comments and questions from people. At least in my garden, it's been EXTREMELY slow to multiply. After 5 years in my garden, I finally saw the first baby coming up near the mother last summer. So if you really want an impact I would suggest you plant at least three right away.
As for a source, I've been very pleased with bulbs I get from The Lily Garden.

I have 9 of them in my garden. They are over 6 feet tall, but so top heavy that they lean sideway like a drunken sailor ..the better for me because I can see them from my 4'10" height. lol Could be because they don't get afternoon sun anymore since my neighbor has added the second floor and raised his roof.

I got the first 3 from Park's, the remaining from the Lily Garden. I can't remember if Buggycrazy carried it or not, but it's worth a try.
After several years, I finally saw two babies last year. I hope they will bloom soon.

It is a lily hall of fame plant.

I have Altari also an OT. In comparison I prefer the uniform petals of and fragrance of ALtari. It so love the fragrance!!! Altari also seems preferred among my garden visitors.

    so maybe get both! lol!

I got my Silk Road from 2 places. One might have been from woodthrushes co-op. The other I believe was a replacement for a misorder. I think that one was from the lily garden. It is so common I think I might have also seen it at walmart.

Altari is harder to find. I think that was from woodthrush co-op. ( GW member or was...)

I have a lily album of 64 varieties in photobucket. There is a link from my post on it on this page of GW.

Loved it. Gorgeous, big, and fragrant. It loved my Michigan garden but hasn't done anything here in dry hot Colorado. You should be fine. I got them from Lily Garden.

I love SILK ROAD. Mine were new last year. I bought bulbs from White Flower Farm but they were so bad that I had to re-order from the Lily Garden. Get them from the Lily Garden, they have wonderful bulbs.

I got ALTARI too, maybe from Brent and Becki's. Altari did not bloom so can not wait to see it this year.

I have several Altari too, but they don't set my heart aflutter like Silk Road. I find Altari too dark and gloomy because it's much darker than Silk Road.

I have Triumphator which is very similar to Silk Road. Amazing Lily. Wonderful performer. Multiplies like a pair of healthy rabbits in my garden.
Planted 1 bulb of Silk Road last fall. We'll see...

Thanks for the info on Triumphator, good to to know it multiplies rapidly.

Silk Road and Leslie Woodruff both multiply like weeds here. I have given many away to friends. the Lily Garden is the best place to buy I have found.

flowergirl70ks, I'm getting a case of zone envy again as I'm guessing it may be my shorter growing season that keeps it from multiplying.

After 3 seasons I have to dig up the lily garden to move away. The silk road had multiplied like rabbits for me too. I must have 20 little ones off of 4 mature ones. I am in zone 5a.
