There are many legumes which grow wild. Most that I know about are not vining plants. Just for starters:

Lupine
Vetch (various kinds)
Bird's Foot Trefoil
Alfalfa
Beach Peas

I'm not sure which are native to North America.

Oooohhh...Apios Americana sounds interesting. A pea that grows from "bulbs". Would you plant the tubers in the Spring or Fall? Is it decorative?

There are several common names. I believe ground nut is the most frequently used. The tubers are the edible part of the plant.

I checked out the old thread, but none of the links worked.
If the tubers are supposed to be a food item, they should be cheap, but I can't find places that sell them in bulk.

This site sells seeds. Kind of expensive though. $4.50 for one seed! But, they don't ship after April.
