It is iris germanicia which is a bearded iris, looks like it might be one of the historics meaning it is over 30 years old

D

Thank you D - I figured it was a bearded iris, but just didn't know "what type" gives that beautiful contrasting purple white combination. The closest I could find that looked reasonably similar was [iris germanicia batik] - but it has more purple and the striations of colors are not the same. If I google iris germanicia, it gives me many choices in colors of bearded iris' - and I want this particular one's ID.

NE1 else?

thank you very much for helping!

You might want to try the Tall Bearded Iris: CIRCUS STRIPES (Plough 1975)

Here is a link that might be useful: Circus Stripes Pictures at Dave's Garden

I grow Circus Stripes and agree that is what it is.

thanks so much for identifying it! Now I just need to find some to purchase.

thank you thank you!

Since this is a historic iris, you can found sources in the Master Historic File that I posted. It's fairly common, so I don't think you'll have too hard of a time finding it.

Nacho ~~ call it the cultivar name and people will know you're not asking for a genus species name.

I've been collecting names of cultivars that have veined falls ~~ if you want, I'll post it. I think 'Circus Stripes' is one of the most striking.
