Curious in trying greasy cut shorts, just not real sure how they used. Can be picked and used fresh as "snap beans" but need to be boiled longer? Or are they used a different way? The seeds are tougher, but the pods more tender than common modern beans. Safe to plant next to other pole beans?

I've always thought that beans cooked for a long time like in the past was overcooking but is it really that modern snap bush beans are more texture than taste that is ruined by overcooking? That beans used to have more flavor that was enhanced by cooking?
