Rot?

Hi! I have checked and done search; but really have not located an answer to my question. I was certain I had seen it addressed before; but could not find it again. Ok..enuf rambling..here is my question. I have my iris in a bed where I have added other plants that require frequent watering this summer. I don't want to risk my iris rotting because of being too wet; which my soil tends to stay dry pretty much in this area. Should I dig them up to avoid the risk or should they be okay. Any advice appreciated! Thanks.

Bearded irises are quite prone to rot if they are overwatered, esp. in hot, humid climates. I would not be able to grow bearded irises in a bed that was watered frequently without rotting them, so I would definitely move the irises into a bed that could be kept drier.

I agree with Laurie - frequent waterings for irises isn't a good thing.

Thanks for the input! I will dig them up tomorrow and plant something else there. Now to find a spot that I can keep dry..guess I will creat an iris bed only..haha! Thanks again!
