I am a relatively new veg gardener (3rd year). Last year I had terrible germination of my sugar snap peas. Planted maybe 30 and ended up with 8 or 10 plants, which meant I never had more than 10-20 pea pods at a time.

This year I over compensated. They were last year's seeds so I expected an even lower germination rate. I decided to just go ahead and plant up everything I had left, which ended up being about 300 seeds.(oregon sugar snap, green arrow, and Sugar Ann) This year I soaked the peas in water for three hours before planting them up in trays. I just put in about 2" of mix into flat trays, and made finger divots, and pushed the soil back over them. I squeezed in about 100 peas per tray.

2 days later, about half have already germinated! they pretty much are just pushing themselves out of the soil, so I have placed each pea in a 4oz plastic cup, and buried it a little deeper. (no leaf formation yet, only little 1" "tails")

I plan on planting out as many as I can find space for in about a week, but I dont know how I will find space for 300 peas!
