Windows reflect a lot of light and I doubt it would hurt them but just to be on the safe side I would start with a not so sunny window (as in east or west) just because the impatiens I had were very touchy when it came to the sun.

I placed the impatiens in a shady window where they did well for about 4 days, then the leaves started dying quite quickly. It looked like damping off, but it was affecting the leaves rather than the main stem. I realized that I was over-watering, now that they are not under the lights they are not drying out as quickly and do not need nearly as much water. I removed any affected leaves, sprayed all of the plants with an organic fungicide (about 8 days ago) and they are doing well.

I lost about ten plants, but learned from it. The plants are not as green as they were, but I haven't had any dead leaves in about 4 days and all of the plants have new growth so I am optimistic.

Thank you for the re-assurance. I never realized that having so much success with seed starting would be so stressful. I am so afraid to kill everything before it is time to plant them out!
