i recently moved to the country and have large areas to plant in. i would like to plant several areas with the old fashioned lavender colored iris that i remember from visiting my grandma.

if you have mass quantities that need to be thinned, i would gladly pay for postage.

Hi! I have iris Princess Beatrice. Its lavender and light blue and smells like grapes. It is also referred to as Iris I. Pallida. I have large quantities. I would sell them to you for 1.50 each and exact postage costs. Or, I will trade for other named varieties, or Day lilies.

I have a photo if you are interested let me know!
    Thanks, Chantel

I am sorry to be the bearer of bad news here, but selling is not permitted on the forums per The Terms of Service. GW is supported by advertisers who pay to advertise here, so selling is in conflict with them. The advertisers are what keeps the site here free for all of us.

I'm sorry to add too, that asking for plants or seeds for postage is also not permitted. Trading, or 'offering' things up for exact postage costs is however permitted.

Special Instructions for Exchanges can be found at the bottom of the Iris Forum Exchange page. See link just above all the list of all the threads here, for the link to the Exchange Page.

I see both of you are new, and don't have email links on your Member Pages. You might want to get those set up, along with your state abbreviations. The abbreviation can be put in the one box provided for Garden Zone. see I am zone 5/6 S IN

Chantel, you might want to try posting on the Iris Exchange page, or the main Plant exchange to trade your irises.

cohoff, you might want to keep an eye out on the Exchange pages, and watch for members who might be 'offering' irises for postage. Every so often member will post that they have them to share for the cost of postage.

    Sorry...Sue

    Hi Connie,

You're welcome, and no biggie (as folks used to say).
Once you get your email link set up on your Member Page, I'll drop you an email about some lav irises I hope to get dug here some time soon. I'm not sure how many rhizomes there might be as it is a clump that has not been disturbed in several years.
I'd be happy to share them for postage, if you are interested.

    Hi Connie,

I noticed yesterday you now had an email link on your member page, and made a mental note that I needed to email you.

You might want to change your setting though and just choose to show your addy to MEMBERS only, so there is less likelihood of it being harvested by spammers.

While there, you might want to put your state abbreviation in the one box provided for the zone. See I'm in zone 5/6 S IN

That way, it will show on your member page, and will automatically be shown whenever you post. In discussing plants, it is so helpful to know a location as well as a zone.

Sorry...I forgot to mention I will email you later tonight once I'm in for the night and cleaned up, or else sometime tomorrow with the particulars of what I have and the prepayment of the postage.

I will add here though that when I send stuff out for postage, it takes a back burner to what I 'have to' get done here, and other trades and plants for postage promises being caught up. It might be a week or two or a little more even, but I try to let the member know they have not been forgotten.

The last two 3 LB boxes I sent out for postage 2 weeks ago, have not even been acknowledged. I had just about convinced myself I was not going to take the time to arrange the prepayment of the postage, dig, clean and inspect plants, package, weigh, printout postage, and schedule pick-up again...having been so disappointed in no acknowledgment whatsoever (so far). but I will give it one more go at it. I guess maybe getting to thrill someone with a package (and them letting me know it) outweighs my disappointment by others.

Can you tell this is a bit of a sore spot with me? I hope I have not scared you off, with my grumpiness. Lost some sleep last night....sorry

sue, i completely understand how you feel. i use to send hostas to people, expecting nothing in return except an acknowledgement. when i didnt get any, i felt used and taken advantage of......i didnt even get an offer to be reimbursed for postage alot of times. but i took some satisfaction in knowing (hoping) that my hostas were bringing some joy to others. eventually i stopped sharing my hostas.

i moved 75 of them out here this spring. i didnt have adequate shade in place for them, but i took a chance. between the sun and deer, i dont have much showing above ground. but if any should return next spring, would you like some?

    Connie,

It is good to know that you understand my above rant...and so sweet of you to offer the hosta.
I'm off to email you now.

    Sue
