You have one of my most favorites - Sonja's Selah. The falls have the most extraordinary shades of apricot and copper.

How long do you leave them in 4.5" pots?

Our club will be potting iris Saturday but we use 8 1/2 inch pots. I would be concerned about using such small pots. Do you keep them long? Have you used that size pots before? Just wondering. Marvin E.

I have used four inch pots for years in getting new irises started. They are in the pots only two or three months at the most and when planted have a very nice rootball.

When planting,it's much easier to dig a hole for the contents of a four inch pot than it is for a gallon pot. They are a heckova lot lighter in weight, too.

Of course, if you plan to leave them in the pots longer than three months, you need larger pots.

I would use the mum pots for a plant sale. I think they are six to eight inches high.

You will never know the success of using four inch pots for getting irises started until you try it.
