Look for the "Pixie" series of Asiatics. They seem to be a popular item in the Big Box garden centers - Walmart, Lowes, Home Depot - and come in a variety of colors, cream, burgundy, orange, white, pink, yellow...

hello Duluth....thank you. I was told the ones in Walmart are treated to be small but when planted in the ground the following year they are tall.........I dunno....I looked at them yesterday in Walmart and all it says on the tag is perennial, no names........

When it comes to plants I'll never say never. I purchased a few "Pixies" from Home Depot when they first showed up five or six years ago and none of mine have ever gotten taller than 12 - 18". They expand into nice clumps, but no great height.

In reading on Google, I did see that some growers do use growth retardants but mainly on bedding plants. Hard to think it would be effective with a bulb.

And I'm 3 hardiness zones and a totally different climate away from you so any plant we might have in common could manifest itself differently.
