It look a bit like the Lilium Henryi hybrids. First I was thinking of "Autumn Glory" but I don't think it is it.

Below is a picture of ZEUS which is very similar to yours but a bit more salmon color (I am not sure if it is only difference in cameras/lighting).

My guess is a cross between Lilium Henryi and lilium longifolium (tiger lily).

Does yours produce black bulblets ?

Zeus

Hi Kenneth:

I agree that one of the parents has to be Lilium lancifolium as it does produce black bulblets. It must have been mislabelled as my wife keeps all the pictures of lilies we buy in a binder for future reference.

I have approx 70 named varities and none of them have a flower structure like this particular plant. I have L. Henryi and they are much taller. The unknown lily is only 24-30 inches high.

The Zeus looks 'peach' in the photo so I think you are seeing the color of mine correctly (a deep orange with a faint yellow band through the middle of each petal). The Zeus looks much more refined than my mystery lily. Notice the strange black beads around the pistol. I wish I had taken a macro shot but did not think of it at the time.

I would love to see your garden as both my wife and I love bulbs. My favorites are lilies while Christine has an ever growing collection of Amaryllis.

Cheers,
MG
