Fading Foliage

A few of my 1st year lilies are starting to have their foliage turn a lighter green/yellowish color...losing the deeper green tint. Is this usually caused by over/underwatering...or over/under fertilization? Or what? They're right next to perfectly healthy looking lilies from the same batch...receiving the same watering/fertilizing....

Thanks!

    Todd,

Didn't you receive these lilies from B&B this spring? I hope or maybe I kind of wonder whether yours have not been infected with virus. Are they just pale green or marbled light & dark green? Ken will have an answer to your question.

Most of my Orientals and several of speciosum rubrum from B&B that were just planted this April were infected and I find a new infected one every week. I am waiting until the end of summer to take inventory. Hope you have a better luck than I.

They seem to be marbled. They're mostly a pale green, almost yellowish now...but there is still some darker green marbling.

Only seems to be effecting 2 bulbs at the moment. However, a few of the others, my Mona Lisa's, are having probs w/the buds opening prematurely.

Marbled? Owwww. Your lilies got virus. :-(

I have removed over 100 this year from my gardens, most of the new Orientals and over 10 of speciosum rubrum from B&B planted this spring were infected & infecting the existing Orientals. I find additional infected ones everyday.......

So what should I do? Do I dig them up and throw them away?

Is this a common occurance? (do most vendors have virus issues from time to time?) Is it B&B's fault? Or is there no way for them to really tell when bulbs are infected?

    Thanks

I never had any virus before until this year and I have planted Lilies for nearly 18 years in this garden. I have added new ones almost every year.

Initially I thought it was the aphids fault. I had aphids infestation on my Sedum this spring, but since the Lilies that I had ordered from B&B for a friend were infected too and this friend had no other lilies or much of any plants at all in her garden, I am sure now the lilies from B&B were the culprit.

I have to dig them all up and destroy them, literally. It really is upsetting, but I don't know what else to do. I don't want the rest of my bulbs infected as well. I have/had a huge collection of bulbs, including lilies. I don't want to see infected bulbs comes next spring. :-(

    What should you do????? :-(
