Nope, I meant 20,000 lux. 20,000 foot-candles is brighter than the midday sun! 20,000 lux is roughly the same as 2,000 foot-candles or about the same as open shade on a bright sunny day.

Seedlings are different though, they often need less light than an adult plant. I can't really help you with Adenium seedlings, never grown them. A quick google says that Adenium seedlings need full sun from just a few weeks old or they will stretch. One thing you can do with seedlings that need full sun is just stick a fluorescent tube almost touching them to get a very intense light, but this only works until they get to a few inches tall.

I'm not sure where the confusion is. 100 fc = 1,000 lux (close enough), therefore 1,000 fc = 10,000 lux and 10,000 fc = 100,000 lux.

You asked for lux, I gave you lux. If you want foot-candles I can do that too. You should be looking for around 2,000 foot-candles (= 20,000 lux) to grow your seedlings. That's about what you'll get a couple of inches from a 2x40W shoplight.

hi i got a three lovely adenium seedlings that are about a inch and a half tall and all i did is take them outside during the day, and bring them in and put them under a normal kitchen light. and they have loved it, also i water them almost eveyday. hope this helps. whisst
