Irises won't bloom

Hi all.

I'm new to this forum.

I planted irises in my garden two years ago, clay soil with some amendments. Last year only one plant bloomed.

This year no blooms and many of the leaves are lying on the ground. They receive partial sunlight as we have many

large trees in our yard.

Last fall I brought some iris roots from mom's yard in Idaho. I planted these in a flower bed near the house and none of them bloomed this year. They receive direct morning sun. I read somewhere that they may get too hot as they are planted near the concrete base of the house.

What is the best fertilizer for irises, the best location, and how can I encourage them to bloom?
