Cherokee Wax is a bush bean.

When it comes to yellow pole beans, there isn't as large a selection as there is for green. You might want to try Meraviglia di Venezia (Marvel of Venice), a romano style (i.e., flat pod) yellow pole bean.

Last year I grew gold of Bacau pole bean. They are yellow, romano style shape, I really liked them, my dad grows them and likes them too. The flavor is wonderful and they are delicious just steamed with a little drizzle of olive oil. They grow really long too and stay tender.

They do not like really hot weather, good for spring or fall where I live. I plan to grow a few in the fall. I have cherokee wax bush right now. First time for me, surprised at the pretty purple/lavender flowers.

Thanks! Looks like the kids will have to wait until next year for their pole beans, but that's okay -- I'm pretty excited just to try any beans at all since they're a new adventure for me.
