transplanting giant crinum

Help!! I just acquired 2 giant crinums, 6 to 7' tall. They are bare rooted. I live in Louisiana, very hot and humid,how do I handle them. Do I cut leaves, can they be put in pots? Is the garden better? Help, ASAP Jane
