How tall is Black Gamecock in your garden?

Aitkins has the wrong picture for 'Bound For Glory' --- it's described as Spanish orange. They have a white one pictured. I didn't see heights but a google search may find that info.

Intermediate beardeds top out at 27".

Thank you for your response! On dave's garden site, the height is stated as 36" - 48". That is a beautiful iris. I don't know how tall my black gamecock ones are. I'm thinking no more than 3 feet. $10 for one is expensive.

Orange doesn't seem to be a common color in the Louisianas.

There are several nice orange bearded iris. I have Crackling Cauldera, Maid of Orange, Jolt, Fireside Glow & all are nice & grow well. Fireside glow gets a little too tall and floppy if not perfect conditions. Keep in mind that bearded iris & Louisiana iris normally require different conditions, at least that is my understanding. I think Louisiana iris usually grow in wetter conditions than bearded iris like.I only have one Louisiana iris though, & it is in the same soil conditions as my bearded iris, but I don't think it does very well.

China Dragon is beautiful! There are many nice orange ones on that website but they are not taking orders right now.

ngraham: You sent me a box of iris divisions for postage earlier this year. Do you remember what their names were by any chance?

I've never thought about beardeds and louisianas requiring different conditions. That's a great point.
